Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how the AB JOB Chrome Extension ("Extension") collects, uses, and handles your data when you use our browser extension. The Extension's single purpose is to help you save and track job listings you find while browsing the web.
You can find the Extension on the Chrome Web Store.
Limited Use Disclosure
Our use and transfer of information received from Chrome APIs to any other app adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use your data for advertising, do not sell it, and do not allow humans to read it except in the limited cases permitted by that policy (for example, with your explicit consent, for security investigations, or to comply with applicable law).
Data Collection and Use
Website Content
- When you click the Extension on a job listing page, it reads information from that page (such as job title, company name, location, salary if shown, and the page URL) so it can be saved to your account.
- Page content is only read on the active tab and only when you actively trigger the Extension. We do not collect content from other tabs or from pages you do not interact with.
- No browsing history or general browsing activity is collected.
- The selected job listing data is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our backend and stored under your account.
Authentication Data
-
The Extension stores a session token locally (in
chrome.storage) so you stay signed in. - The token is only sent to our backend to authenticate your requests.
- We never store your password or login credentials inside the Extension.
Technical and Server Logs
- When the Extension communicates with our backend, our servers may automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, request timestamps, browser and device information, user/account identifiers, the requested URL or API endpoint, and error or diagnostic logs.
- We use this information to operate the Extension, authenticate requests, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, improve reliability, and keep the service secure.
- We do not use technical logs for advertising, do not sell them, and do not use them to track your browsing outside the Extension's job-saving functionality.
Permissions
The Extension requests only the permissions it needs to work:
- activeTab / scripting — to read the contents of the current page when you click the Extension to save a job.
- storage — to keep your session token and basic preferences locally so you stay signed in.
- Host permissions on job board domains — required so the Extension can extract listing details from those pages when you choose to save a job.
Data Storage and Security
- Saved job listings and account data are stored on our backend, not inside the Extension.
- All communication between the Extension and our backend uses encrypted HTTPS.
-
Session tokens are stored in the Extension's local
chrome.storagearea and are removed when you sign out or uninstall the Extension.
Service Providers
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with third parties for advertising. Data saved through the Extension may be processed by Supabase, which we use for authentication and database hosting.
Data Retention
- We keep your saved job listings and account data for as long as your account is active.
- When you delete your account or request deletion, we remove your personal data from our active systems within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain limited information for legal, billing, or security reasons.
- Uninstalling the Extension removes locally stored data (such as session tokens) from your browser. It does not by itself delete data already saved on our backend.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your saved job listings through our website.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Uninstall the Extension at any time, which will remove all locally stored data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 where applicable under local law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, for example through the Extension or by email.
