Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how AB Job collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data when you use our website, web application, paid features, and Chrome extension.

AB Job helps you save, organize, and track job listings and job applications. We only use your personal data to provide, protect, and improve the service, to manage your account and subscription, and to communicate with you as described below.

Who We Are

AB Job is the controller of the personal data described in this Privacy Policy.

Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data:

  • Account and authentication data: your email address, password authentication status, magic-link or password-reset activity, account identifiers, and session or authentication tokens.
  • Profile data: information you add to your profile, such as your name, desired job title, and marketing email preference.
  • Job search and application data: information you add or save about jobs and applications, such as company names, role titles, job listing links, locations, salary details when available, application status, applied dates, notes, comments, and related tracking history.
  • Chrome extension data: when you choose to save a job with the AB Job Chrome extension, the extension may read details from the active job listing page, such as job title, company name, location, salary if shown, and page URL, so the listing can be saved to your account.
  • Billing data: subscription status, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, plan status, renewal or cancellation status, and related billing metadata. Stripe processes your payment details directly. We do not receive or store your full card number.
  • Usage and technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages or features used, log data, error and diagnostic data, and analytics events when analytics are enabled.
  • Other data you choose to provide: any other information you choose to add to your workspace, dashboard, notes, or job-tracking records.

How We Use Data

We use personal data to:

  • Create, authenticate, and manage your account.
  • Provide your dashboard, job-tracking table, and saved listings.
  • Sync data between the website and Chrome extension.
  • Provide paid plan features and subscription management.
  • Send account, security, password, and service-related emails.
  • Send marketing emails only if you choose to receive them. You can opt out at any time.
  • Respond to support, deletion, privacy, and account requests.
  • Protect the service, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot errors.
  • Understand and improve product usage, reliability, and design.
  • Comply with legal, tax, accounting, and security obligations.

Legal Bases

If privacy law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on the following bases:

  • Contract: to provide your account, dashboard, Chrome extension sync, support, paid plan, and billing management.
  • Consent: for marketing emails and for optional analytics or cookies where consent is required.
  • Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, improve the product, debug issues, and understand aggregate usage.
  • Legal obligations: to comply with tax, accounting, law-enforcement, and other legal requirements.

Cookies, Storage, and Analytics

We use cookies, browser storage, and similar technologies that are necessary to keep you signed in, authenticate requests, remember basic preferences, and protect the service.

We may use Umami for privacy-focused website analytics when analytics are enabled. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not use your personal data for behavioral advertising.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Some features may not work correctly if necessary authentication or storage technologies are disabled.

Chrome Extension

The AB Job Chrome extension is available on the Chrome Web Store. Its single purpose is to help you save and track job listings you find while browsing the web.

The extension reads job listing details only from the active tab and only when you choose to save a job. We do not collect general browsing history or content from tabs you do not interact with.

The use of information received from Chrome APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use extension data for advertising, do not sell it, and do not allow humans to read it except where you give explicit consent for support, where necessary for security, where required by law, or where the data is aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.

Service Providers

We use trusted service providers to operate AB Job. These providers process personal data only as needed to provide services to us. They may include hosting and infrastructure providers, authentication and database providers, payment processors, analytics providers, and support or security tools.

For example, we currently use:

  • Supabase for authentication, database hosting, and backend functions.
  • Stripe for payment processing, subscriptions, and billing portal access.
  • Vercel for hosting, infrastructure, deployment, and related server logs.
  • Umami for privacy-focused website analytics when analytics are enabled.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.

When We Share Data

We may share personal data:

  • With service providers described in this Privacy Policy.
  • When you ask us to take an action that requires sharing data.
  • To comply with applicable law or valid legal requests.
  • To protect AB Job, users, and the public from fraud or abuse.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate notice where required.

Retention

We keep account, profile, dashboard, and job-tracking data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.

If you delete your account or ask us to delete your data, we remove personal data from active systems within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain limited information for legal, tax, accounting, billing, security, dispute-resolution, or backup purposes.

Billing records may be retained as needed for tax, accounting, and legal compliance. Technical logs and analytics data are retained only as long as needed for security, diagnostics, and product improvement.

International Transfers

AB Job and our service providers may process personal data in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have data protection laws that differ from your local laws.

Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual commitments from service providers and other safeguards required by applicable law.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the use of your personal data. You may also have the right to object to certain processing, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, opt out of marketing emails, and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

If you are a California resident and the California Consumer Privacy Act applies, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, sell, or share; request deletion or correction; opt out of sale or sharing; limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; and not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights.

You can update some account information in your settings, delete your account from the app, or contact us at contact@ab-job.com to exercise privacy rights.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including HTTPS for data transmission and access controls for our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

AB Job is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets a higher age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

Links to Other Websites

AB Job may link to third-party websites, including job boards, employer websites, Stripe, and the Chrome Web Store. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as by email or through the service.
